Happy New Year Friends!

Welcome to Veganuary 2019!  The best month of the year for our dear Planet Earth and all animal species.

Today I’m going to show you how to make a really good golden turmeric latte at home, one that tastes amazing and doesn’t break the bank. You can enjoy it hot or iced but the method is the same.

Simply throw some turmeric, ginger and a pinch of black pepper in your Vitamix (or some other blender) with creamy cashew or almond milk. Sweeten to taste with maple syrup and hit it with a pinch of cinnamon. Warm it up or serve over ice.

Easy Peasy!

I love the creaminess of homemade cashew milk here but this also works well with any plant-milk you like. Almond, oat, soy, coconut and even hemp are all good choices.

Since it doesn’t contain any caffeine you can enjoy it late into the evening hours without any worries about not being able to fall asleep. Au contraire kids, you get extra perks besides the delicious taste.

Golden Turmeric Latte Benefits:

Anti Inflammatory
Good for You
Calming & Comforting
Caffeine Free
Helps with Sleep
Soothing a Sore Throat
Clear Skin
It’s Vegan.

Why Add Black Pepper ?

In order to boost the bioavailability levels of curcumin turmeric must be mixed with a pinch of black peeper.

5 % of the turmeric spice is composed of an active compound called curcumin that also gives it the beautiful golden yellow color. But when consumed on its own our liver is actively trying to get rid of. However the piperine compound in black pepper actually inhibits this process of the liver thus boosting the bioavailability of curcumin by as much as 2000% (Source: NutritionFacts.org)
